Building a desktop PC requires purchasing thermal paste, but there’s always more than is required in each tube. That’s great if you’re doing multiple builds, but quite wasteful if you’re not. Streacom has come up with a solution, though.
Rather than shipping TX13 in a tube, Streacom opted for coated foil sachets, each of which contains the “recommended, tried and tested ‘pea sized’ amount of thermal paste (0.25g) providing full coverage of a standard desktop CPU IHS (~40*40mm).” There’s also no plastic spreader as in most applications it isn’t required, and the sachets are shipped in a recycled card envelope.
The end result is a package that’s much easier to recycle the materials from and no wasted thermal paste, or at least, nowhere near as much wasted assuming your build goes well.
