How many brackets are included with the SMR Kit?

We include two different bracket types, a long bracket for AIOs and a short bracket for fans and other accessories such as the VU1. There are 4 of each bracket included, so 8 in total. We also include 4 clamps to attach the brackets to the rod, so a single kit will allow 4 brackets to be installed at the same time.

The SMR (Side Mounted Rail) Kit opens up a world of options for mounting hardware to the BC1 (and BC1 Mini).

The BC1 has always featured mounting points along its edges (left, right and front) that when paired with the included brackets, allowed for fans, radiators and other hardware to be secured.

The SMR kit builds on this by attaching to those existing mounting points and providing a more versatile and robust solution for securing hardware to the BC1. It features a stainless steel rod and fully adjustable clamps that are highly adaptable using a choice of brackets.

The clamps can slide and rotate freely along the rod providing granular adjustment to perfectly position hardware. The attachment to the BC1 edge also includes brackets that help spread the load and allows for heavier items to be fitted and properly supported by the brackets.

The SMR kit has been designed to be compatible with every generation and size (excluding the Pi) of BC1, so weather you have the original BC1 or the Mini, the SMR can be used to upgrade its functionality.

In keeping with the “maker” mindset of the Open Benchtable project, the SMR is optimised for custom solutions. The included brackets use a flat profile design specifically to make them easy to replicate and reproduce. Using our provided templates and dimensions, users can easily design and make their own bespoke mounting hardware directly or through 3rd party fabrication services.

The SMR kit joins the growing eco system of BC1 accessories that expand the functionality and compatibility. The SMR can also be attached directly to the newly released VGPU kit or used to mount the VU1s to display system telemetry. Together they allow you to build a truly unique open frame system.
